TALUKDAR (Hind, from taluk, district, and dor, holding), the name of (i) an official in the state of Hyderabad, India, equivalent to magistrate and collector, and (2) a landholder with peculiar tenures in various parts of India, particularly in Oude (see UNITED PROVINCES).
