Plumbago

PLUMBAGO (from Lat. plumbum, lead), a name frequently applied to graphite (q.v.), in allusion to its remote resemblance to lead, whence it is popularly called " black-lead." It was formerly held in repute in medicine, but is now regarded as having no medicinal properties of any value.
