PENOLOGY (Lat. poena, punishment), the modern name given to penitentiary science, that concerned with the processes devised and adopted for the repression and prevention of crime. (See CRIME; CRIMINOLOGY; PRISON; JUVENILE OFFENDERS; RECIDIVISM, etc.)
