Orkhon Inscriptions

ORKHON INSCRIPTIONS, ancient Turkish inscriptions of the Sth century A.D., discovered near the river Orkhon to the south of Lake Baikal in 1889. They are written in an alphabet derived from an Aramaic source and recount the history of the northern branch of the Turks or Tu-kiue of Chinese historians. Sec Turks.
