Infinitive

INFINITIVE, a form of the verb, properly a noun with verbal functions, but usually taken as a mood (see GRAMMAR). The Latin grammarians gave it the name of infinitus or infinilivus modus, i.e. indefinite, unlimited mood, as not having definite persons or numbers.
